Deadbolt Installation is an important security measure for many homes. Installing a deadbolt lock is relatively simple, but it does require some basic tools and supplies, as well as careful attention to detail.

Tools Needed:

To install a deadbolt, you will need the following tools:

  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Pencil
  • Drill and drill bits
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Utility knife or saw
Supplies Needed:

In addition to the necessary tools, you will need some supplies to complete the installation:

  • Deadbolt lock and strike plates
  • Mounting screws
  • Wood shims (optional)
  • Chalk line or level

We specialize in HONDA ignitions but repair most makes / manufacturers / models common in North America.

Procedure of Deadbolt Installation:
1. Measure the Door Frame

Before installing the deadbolt, you will need to measure the door frame. Use a measuring tape or ruler to measure the height and width of the door frame. This will help you determine where to place the deadbolt and strike plate on the door, as well as what type of deadbolt and strike plate you should buy.

2. Mark the Door Frame

Once you have measured the door frame, use a pencil to mark the top and sides of the door where you want to install the deadbolt. You should also mark the location of the strike plate, which will go on the frame across from the deadbolt.

3. Install Deadbolt Lock

Using a drill and appropriate bits, make two holes in the door at your marked locations for the deadbolt. Place the deadbolt in the door and secure it with screws. Then, attach the lock to the outside of the door by following the instructions included with your deadbolt.

4. Install Strike Plate

On the opposite side of the door from where you installed your deadbolt, use a drill and appropriate bits to make two holes in the frame. Then, secure the strike plate to the frame with screws. You may need to use a utility knife or saw to chisel out a portion of the frame if the opening is not large enough for your strike plate.

5. Level and Secure

To ensure that your deadbolt lock operates smoothly, use a chalk line or level to make sure that the deadbolt is even with the strike plate. If necessary, you can use wood shims to fill in any gaps between the door frame and strike plate. Once everything is secure, try opening and closing your deadbolt lock several times to check that it operates properly.

By following these steps and paying attention to detail, you can easily install a deadbolt lock in your home. Installing a deadbolt is an important security measure and will help keep you safe.
